Bobcats edge Rangers 2-1

Kyle Duncan came up big on the mound, leading Brandywine to a 2-1 win over Cassopolis Monday.

Duncan reached base one time.

Duncan shut down the Rangers, while he was on the hill. Cass managed just two hits off of Duncan, who allowed one earned run, walked six and struck out seven during his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Brandywine Varsity closer Brock Hartline put away the final five outs to record the save.

The Bobcats scored what turned out to be the winning run in the bottom of the fourth.

Duncan drew a lead-off walk for Brandywine, who stole second and moved to third on a ground out by Tanner Bourdon. Duncan then scored on a passed ball.

Neither team was able to muster much offense again the opposing team. Cassopolis’ Kevin Hatcher took the loss for the Rangers despite tossing a one-hitter.
