Brandywine rallies to beat Hartford

HARTFORD – The Brandywine baseball team rallied to win the nightcap 4-2 and earn a split with host Hartford Monday.

The Indians won the opening game, 12-0 as the Bobcats managed just one hit.

In the opening game, Alec Nichols got on base two times in the game for the Bobcats, while Brian Kline had the lone hit.

The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as Hartford scored three runs, two of which came on bases loaded walks.

Hartford piled on nine more runs in the top of the sixth.

In the second game, Hartford wasn’t able to come back from the big hole it dug itself into against the Bobcats after falling behind by three runs in the third inning.

Brock Hartline racked up three RBIs on one hit for Brandywine. He homered in the third inning.

Hartline recorded the win for Bobcats as well. He allowed two runs over four innings. Hartline struck out two, walked five and gave up two hits.

The top of the second saw Hartford take an early lead, 1-0.

Brandywine went up for good in the third, scoring four runs on Hartline’s home run and a groundout by Kyle Basly.
