Bobcats split with Hartford

HARTFORD – Visiting Brandywine split a pair of softball games with Hartford Monday.

The Bobcats won the opening game 14-0 in six innings, but lost to the Indians 10-0 in five innings in the nightcap.

Brandywine blew open a close game with 10 runs in the fifth inning.

Michaela Hartline racked up two RBIs on two hits for Bobcats. She tripled in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Mikayla Kemp had an impressive outing against Hartford’s lineup. The Indians managed just one hit off of Kemp, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during her five innings of work.

The lead stayed with Brandywine after the second, when it scored one run on an error.

The Bobcats increased their lead with three runs in the third. A passed ball scored Makenna Hartline to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Michaela Hartline’s triple, scoring Rachael Ort.

In the nightcap, the Bobcats’ lone hit came from Kelly Harper. Harper went 1-for-2. She singled in the second inning.

Hartford stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring two runs on a passed ball and a wild pitch.

The Indians increased their lead with five runs in the third.
