Two people were injured when a 2002 Mitsubishi crashed on the US 31 bypass directly under Niles-Buchanan Road overpass early Sunday morning.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department described it as a serious injury accident.

The car was driven by Jennifer Scot of Galien. A passenger in the front seat was Maxwel Robinson, also of Galien.

Scot and Robinson were both taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment — Scot for a foot injury and Robinson for internal injuries.

The accident occurred at 2 a.m.

The accident remains under investigation. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor, according to a Berrien County Sheriff’s Department accident report.
