Ravish, Mucha finish third at state finals

AUBURN HILLS – Chanc Ravish of Brandywine took third place at 140 pounds in Division 3 Saturday afternoon at The Palace of Auburn Hills at the MHSAA Individual Wrestling Finals.

Ravish, a state runner-up last year, defeated Kyle Nixon of Leroy-Pine River in the consolation finals.

Ravish finishes the year at 50-3.

Teammate Joe Monica took fifth place at 189 as he pinned Jonathan Zarzoza of Hart in 4:46.

Buchanan senior Jeff Mucha won five consecutive matches to finish third in Division 3 at 140 pounds.

In the consolation finals, Mucha edged Chris March of Midland Bullock Creek 1-0.

Niles senior Ryan Casey finished fifth in Division 2.

Casey pinned Tecumseh’s Landon Pelham in 3:55. It was the second victory over Pelham at the state finals.

Edwardsburg freshman Michael Higley placed seventh after defeating Tristan Serbus of Corunna 10-6. It was Higley’s second win over Serbus in the tournament.

Niles’ Casey Burandt and Fritzel Findeisen, along with Buchanan’s Gage Hutchison, will wrestle for state championships. The finals are scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m.
