Big first half leads Rangers to victory

Visiting Cassopolis won Thursday night’s Lakeland Conference boys basketball game against Brandywine in the first half.

The Rangers, who dropped a heartbreaker to Buchanan Monday night, outscored the Bobcats 28-15 in the first half on their way to a 58-39 victory.

Not wanting to let up, the Rangers (8-9, 2-4 Lakeland) came out of the locker room and continued to play hard and as a result, was able to maintain a double-digit lead heading into the final quarter, 37-25.

Five Cassopolis players scored eight or more points. Brandon Glover led the Rangers with nine points. Tyler Prestly, Kenneth Carson, J.J. Smith and Trevon Brown all netted eight points.

Brandywine was led by Austin Knapp’s game-high 12 points. Alex Ulrickson added 11 for the Bobcats, who drop to 2-16 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
