The Dowagiac boys basketball team defeated host Allegan 90-62 in a Wolverine Conference non-divisional game Tuesday night.

The win improved the No. 3-ranked Chieftains to 12-1 on the season.

Dowagiac senior Dontel Highsmith had 33 points. Kyle Solloway added 18 points, Davion Highsmith 12 and D.J. Hunt 10.

Allegan got 19 points from Gary Jones and 15 points from Kendal Luckett.

The Chieftains will host Three Rivers in a Wolverine West Division clash Friday night at 7:15 p.m.

The Dowagiac girls basketball team is still looking for its first win of the season.

Visiting Allegan outscored the Chieftains 13-4 in the third quarter on its way to a 42-28 Wolverine Conference non-divisional victory Tuesday.

Dowagiac (0-14) hung with the Tigers (7-8) through the first two quarters.

The Chieftains trailed 13-7 after one quarter and just 17-12 at halftime.

Allegan outscored Dowagiac 25-16 in the second half to pull away to the victory.

Blair Arthur had 14 points for the Tigers.

Ciera Smith led the Chieftains with 10 points. Crieona Rodgers added seven and Rayven Brown six.
