The regular season came to an end for the Dowagiac wrestling team Wednesday night and now it’s time for the Chieftains to begin focusing on the post season.

Dowagiac will head to Plainwell Saturday to take part in the Wolverine Conference Tournament.

Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

The Dowagiac boys and girls basketball teams are also in action this weekend.

The Chieftain girls team will be looking for its first victory when it heads to South Haven to take on the Rams at 6 p.m.

The No. 3-ranked Dowagiac boys team will put its undefeated West Division record (6-0) on the line against South Haven.

The Rams have caused the Chieftains problems in the past couple of meetings. In 2012, South Haven eliminated Dowagiac from the post season, while earlier this season the Chieftains edged the Rams 69-64.

All-Stater Dontel Highsmith had a triple-double against South Haven as he scored 23 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and had 10 blocks.

Dowagiac also got 15 points and 10 rebounds from Kyle Solloway.

The Chieftains are currently 11-1 following a 78-64 win over South Haven Tuesday night.

South Haven is 9-3 and 4-2 in the West Division following last Friday night’s 80-52 win over Berrien Springs.
