LANSING — State Rep. Dave Pagel Thursday was named vice chair of the House committee on local government.

“Having served residents from the local government viewpoint, I can have a positive impact on legislation affecting municipalities and school boards,” said Pagel, R-Oronoko Township.

“We as a legislature need to work alongside local governments to make sure that taxpayer money is being put to good use on all levels of governement.”

Pagel also has been selected to serve on the House Committee on Agriculture as well as the new Tourism and Michigan Competitiveness committees.

“Agriculture and tourism are very important aspects of the economy in southwestern Michigan, and I look forward to working toward enhancing these two industries throughout the state,” Pagel said. “The Legislature has made great strides toward a healthy economy, but there›s a lot of work left to be done, and I am eager to get started.”
