Dowagiac ranked No. 6 by AP

The Associated Press boys basketball rankings are out and Dowagiac is sixth.

The Chieftains, who improved to 8-1 with a 72-27 win over Plainwell, received 37 votes.

Detroit Country Day (8-1) is the No. 1 team in Class B. Undefeated Wyoming Godwin Heights (7-0) is second and Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy third with a 6-2 record.

Undefeated Lakeshore, which lost in the state title game last March, is fourth with a 7-0 record.

Jackson Lumen Christi (6-0), Dearborn Heights Robichaud (4-2), Otsego (6-1) and Detroit Frederick Douglas (3-3) round out the top 10.

Edwardsburg earned an honorable mention nod.

Muskegon Heights Academy, the only team to beat Dowagiac this season, is an honorable mention pick in Class C. Decatur also is listed among the honorable mention teams.
