ST. JOSEPH — Autopsies were completed Monday on the two victims of Saturday morning’s fiery crash on Marquette Drive at Lakeshore Drive in Berrien County’s New Buffalo Township.

Both victims were severely burned and had to be identified through medical and dental X-rays. They have been identified as the driver and owner of the car, Aleksandra A. Strikas, 22, of Lagrange Ill.; and front seat passenger, Matthew R. Ross, 25, of Harbert.

Blood samples will be sent to the state lab for testing, but preliminary toxicology tests from the medical examiner’s office indicate alcohol was a factor in this fatal crash, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

There were no known witnesses to this crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Thad Chartrand or Lt. Don Goulooze at (269) 983-7141.
