Dowagiac police arrested an adult female from Indiana for possession of methamphetamine after she was located in a residential neighborhood in the northern part of the city.

Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson reported that  officers investigating a suspected meth-related crime, located a male and female walking in the road on Sheldon Street, near King Street.

As police approached the subjects at just after 8 p.m. Saturday, the female appeared to turn abruptly to avoid the officer.

Police made contact and spoke with the woman.

Investigation revealed she was in possession of a bag of suspected powder meth.

The male subject was released after being questioned.

The female subject was transported to the Cass County Jail in Cassopolis and lodged for meth possession pending arraignment in Fourth District Court.
