George Tom Burns, 68, of Buchanan, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at his home of natural causes.

George was born May 30, 1944, in Niles to Wilbur and Edna Burns. He was a lifetime area resident, worked as a machinist at Clark Equipment Company, an active member of Bethel Tabernacle in Niles and he enjoyed outdoor activities and woodworking.

Surviving family include his wife, Judy Burns; daughters, Jeanie Burns, of Niles, and Janet (Michael) Slack, of South Haven; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; stepson, Mark (Michele) Prillwitz, of Niles; stepdaughters, Lisa Prillwitz and Melissa Prillwitz, both of Buchanan; and three sisters, Helen, Linda and Pauline.

Preceding him in death are his parents and one brother, Fred Burns.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Tabernacle in Niles, with Pastor Matthew Bair officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Memorials can be made to Bethel Tabernacle in Niles or Hospice at Home, Inc. of St. Joseph.
