Berrien County man found dead under ATV

A Berrien County man is dead after an ATV rollover accident Friday morning in Sodus Township.

Elmer Froehlich, 69, was found dead underneath a rolled over ATV in the driveway of his home in the 3500 block of Dutch Lane at around 7:30 a.m., according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

Froehlich’s brother, August Froehlich, discovered Elmer and called police. August said he had arrived to help his brother on the farm and found him under his ATV.

Family members stated that Elmer was going deer hunting on Thursday and must have been returning home that evening when the accident happened.

The accident remains under investigation and an autopsy is planned.

Elmer had been a lifetime resident and farmer in the Sodus area.
