LMC to host trustee board candidate forum

Lake Michigan College will host a meet and greet forum with candidates running in the November election for two open seats on the LMC Board of Trustees.

The event, which is open to the public, will take place in the Blue Lecture Hall on the College’s Napier Avenue campus. It is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The program will also be broadcast to the College’s Bertrand Crossing campus in Niles and to the South Haven Campus.

Candidates seeking election to the two six-year terms are:

• John Janick, St. Joseph

• Michael Lindley, New Buffalo

• Matthew Petter, South Haven

• Christopher Quattrin, St. Joseph

• Stephen Small, South Haven

Each candidate has been invited to take part in the forum, during which they will be provided approximately five minutes each to introduce themselves, outline their reasons for running for the board, and discuss their positions on issues related to the college and higher education. Following there will be a reception and time for the candidates and attendees to meet.

Current college trustee Pat Moody will introduce each candidate and moderate the program. Moody, whose term on the board expires Dec. 31 of this year, announced that he is not seeking another six -year term on the board.

In addition to Mr. Moody’s seat, the seat held by current board member Dr. Michael Lindley is up for election. Lindley was appointed to the board in 2010 to fill the unexpired term of Barbara Hall, who stepped down from the board.
