Lois Maxine Smith, 86, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Lois was born on July 29, 1926, in Fort Wayne, to the late Earl and Hazel (Arnold) Fetters.

On Aug. 28, 1962, Lois married Kenneth C. Smith at a ceremony in Mishawaka, Ind. She was an active member of the First Missionary Church in Niles. Lois was the treasurer on the church board. She enjoyed working outside, crocheting, embroidering and was an active member of “Take Off Pounds Sensibly”.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Phillip Smith; and sister Virginia Fetters.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Lisa) Smith of Niles and Thomas Smith of Niles; daughter Barbara Wishart of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Lois’ wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at 10 a.m. in Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Miller officiating.
