OTSEGO — The Dowagiac JV football team finished its season with an 8-1 record following a 29-12 win over host Otsego Thursday.

It was the second time this season the Chieftains have defeated the Bulldogs.

Bryce Dodd threw a touchdown pass to Chase Camp and ran for another. Rolando Lucio and Jason Pressley also scored touchdowns.

“I would like to thank all the parents for their support this year,” Dowagiac coach Matt Alward said. “I would also like to thank Kyle Belew and Kyle Johnson for their efforts coaching.

“I want to thank the kids this year for their hard work and dedication to the program. I wish them luck as they move on to the varsity squad. For some of them that will be next week as they get ready for the playoffs.”

OTSEGO — The Dowagiac freshmen football team was unsuccessful in its attempt to avenge an earlier loss to Otsego.

The Bulldogs defeated the Chieftains 26-14 in their finale Thursday.

Jacob Davis and Scott Hassle both scored touchdowns for the Chieftains with Dodd added a 2-point conversion.

“At the end of the day the only thing that really matters to me tonight is that when the chips were down we kept playing,” Dowagiac coach Chad Perrin said. “I told them to leave it on the field and they did. It will be a pleasure watching this team grow as players and adults.”
