Roundup: Ring Lardner eighth grade now 4-0

The Ring Lardner eighth-grade football team improved to 4-0 with a 19-0 win over St. Joseph Wednesday.

Cameron Haines returned the opening kickoff 70 for a touchdown to set the tone for the evening.

Haines added a 70-yard touchdown run, while quarterback Jack Hamm threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Alex Harpenau.

Kenny Gaithright scored the 2-point conversion for the Vikings.

Defensively, the Vikings were led by Jacob Harrison, Cade Stephenson and Dawdpm Clemens with sacks. Jake Lalone had an interception and Robert Bush a fumble recovery.

The seventh-grade squad was blanked by St. Joseph 24-0.

Offensively the Vikings were led by Jeff Collett and Elijah Williams as well as the entire offensive line of Garrett Pletz, Aaron Manigold, Clay Sieber, Reshawn Maxwell, Trevon Williams and Robert Anderson.

Defensively, Niles was led by Jacob Base, Jordan Turnbow, Robert Glover and Dayton Smith.

 

Niles freshmen, JV volleyball

The Niles JV volleyball team defeated Benton Harbor 2-0 Wednesday.

The Vikings beat the Tigers 25-13 and 25-13.

The Vikings made it a clean sweep of Benton Harbor with the freshmen winning 25-15 and 25-9.
