Dowagiac homecoming parade set for Oct. 12

Dowagiac Union High School’s traditional celebration of homecoming will kick off next weekend with the annual homecoming parade at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

DUHS Student Senate announced the parade’s date and time Thursday, along with important route information and where residents can plan to catch the festivities.

According to Nick Bogen, junior class representative for the student senate, the parade will begin turning out of the east parking lot of the high school onto Prairie Ronde. The parade will continue onto Orchard Street until it reaches Division Street, and turn left.

The parade is expected to continue on Division until it comes to the Front Street intersection, turning right into Dowagiac’s downtown business sector. The trail will continue onto Main Street, turning left back onto Division. The parade will then break off from that point.

Homecoming floats will enter the Chris Taylor Alumni Field while other units are free to disperse on their own terms.

Residents and spectators for the parade are encoauraged to line any of the streets on the parade route, but must be away from the path of traffic at all times.
