Cass County’s Great Start Parent Coalition met Monday night to celebrate literacy, welcoming Democratic candidate for the 59th House District Mike Moroz.

Nearly 40 people joined the meeting for dinner and a discussion that included local librarians sharing information on library services. Stephanie Knoepple, April Hughes and Pam Boepple presented during the program and helped lead preschool and elementary school students in a story and activity.

Moroz spoke during the meeting, explaining his support for early childhood educational opportunities and increasing childhood literacy. He said the benefits reached not only the students, but their families and communities as a whole. After reading many books to a few children in attendance, Moroz also stayed afterward to meet with parents and answer questions.

The Great Start Parent Coalition meets on the fourth Monday of every month. For more information, contact Anastasia Dykins at adykins@lewiscassisd.org.
