Published 5:46pm Monday, September 17, 2012

Northside Child Development Center in Niles is holding a “Pennies for Penelope” fundraiser for 4-year-old Penelope True, one of three Niles sisters involved in a fatal car accident Sept. 11 in Howard Township. Julianna Brown, 9, and Sophia True, 6, died in the crash. Penelope was last reported in critical condition.

Melanie Pearman, treasurer of Northsides’ Very Important Parents Club, said the school would take donations for the Kirk True family through Oct. 25. Donations can be placed in coffee cans found throughout Northside school, 2020 N. Fifth St., Niles.

The money will be placed in an account at the Niles Teacher’s Credit Union in the name of Kirk True.

Penelope was to begin class at Northside last week. Julianna and Sophie were students at Howard-Ellis schools in Niles.
