Wilson

Robert Wilson successfully completed his defense of doctoral studies in chemistry July 25 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His dissertation was titled, “Applying Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry to Cellular and Model Membranes to Image Component Distribution and Quantify Composition.”

Wilson accepted accepted an assistant professor position at Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif., in the Napa Valley.

He is a graduate of Andrews Academy and Andrews University and is the son of Don and Elizabeth Wilson, of Dowagiac.

 

Hess

A Decatur resident has earned a Presidential Scholarship, awarded to academically talented and highly motivated students, to North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

Samantha Hess, of Decatur, a graduate of Dowagiac Union High School, began her studies in musical theatre at North Central.

The Presidential Scholarship is the top merit-based scholarship at North Central College and is offered to less than 15 percent of the incoming class. The scholarship is based on a combination of a student’s high school grade-point average from core academic classes and ACT/SAT test scores and is renewable for up to four years.
