Chieftain tennis team falls to Shamrocks

The Dowagiac tennis team was no match for one of the newest members of the Wolverine Conference Monday.

Visiting Berrien Springs, who along with Edwardsburg and Coloma, joined the league this fall, defeated the Chieftains 7-1.

Dowagiac’s lone victory came at No. 1 singles, where Marc Tyrakowski defeated Nick Little 6-4 and 6-2.

The Shamrocks won the remaining seven flights in straight sets.

The most competitive match among those other seven flights was the No. 4 doubles match up between Berrien Springs’ Brian Engler and Jonathan Sackett and Dowagiac’s Ethan Wagner and Jennings Brosnan.

Engler and Sackett defeated Wagner and Brosnan 6-4 and 6-2.
