SOUTH BEND — The Niles volleyball team was defeated by host South Bend St. Joseph 3-0 Wednesday.

The Vikings fell to the Indians 25-17, 25-16 and 25-19.

“Although our girls came out ready to play, they could only capitalize on our offense sporadically,” Niles coach Jenny Nate said. “When we were able to play our game aggressively, we scored the points. However, often times, we were reacting rather than controlling the tempo of the game.

“I was happy that the girls stayed positive, supportive of one another and never gave up. We just didn’t execute consistently enough to gain the momentum we needed to win. We will head back to practice tomorrow and continue to work hard and prepare for our conference matches, which begin next Wednesday on the road against Portage Central.”
