BENTON HARBOR — The Niles golf team showed improvement from its season opener, but still could not move out of third place at the second Big 16 Conference West Division Jamboree.

St. Joseph made it two straight victories as it shot 176. Lakeshore was second at 234 and Niles third at 252.

Mattawan and Benton Harbor rounded out the order of finish at 275 and 299 respectively.

“They improved,” Niles coach Dan Palmer said. “Their short game was better because they practiced that. We picked up a couple of shots on Lakeshore and we pulled away from Mattawan by a couple, so we are moving in the right direction.”

Sarah Cramer led the Vikings with a 60. Abby Mattson and Katie Holmes both shot 61, while Ele Hein shot 68 and Ryan Hinegardner shot 69.

Morgan Cook finished with an 80.
