Niles girls eighth at Penn Hokum Karem

MISHAWAKA — The Niles girls cross country team finished eighth at the Penn Hokum Karem Saturday.

The Vikings were 10th in the boys race.

Mishawaka was the overall winner of the girls race with a score of 22. New Prairie was second with 27 points. Niles finished with 116 points.

The team of Bridgett Carpenter and Abby Gaines finished 32nd with a time of 43:54. Libby Hein and Allison Grant ere 41st (46:51), Taylor Hess and Kylee Myer 43rd (48:46), Sasha Zidar and Natalie Swailes 45th (51:20) and Tala Gentry and Larkin Carey 46th (53:38).

Goshen and LaPorte tied for first place with 19 points. Mishawaka was third with 37 points. Niles finished with 108 points.

The team of Gaberial Trujillo and Charles Leonard were 33rd in a time of 36:38. Sean Morgan and Noah Hall were 36th (38:41), Daniel Sierra and Casey Burandt were 39th (39:38), Evan Long and Jake Brentlinger 44th (45:06) and Stingray Jones and Brendon Meek 45th (46:12).
