OMAHA — The West Michigan Diamond Jaxx 13U travel baseball team won the United States Specialty Sports Association “AA” World Series July 15.

The Diamond Jaxx competed against teams from Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, South Dakota, Iowa and Michigan.

The team came out of pool play as the No. 1 seed having not allowed a single run in the tournament.

That all changed after one game as the Diamond Jaxx dropped into the consolation bracket after falling in its opening game.

The Diamond Jaxx battled back through the consolation bracket fighting both opponent and extreme heat to reach the championship game against Iowa’s Siouxland Stars.

The Diamond Jaxx defeated the Stars twice to win the championship.

In the tournament, the Diamond Jaxx scored 106 runs, while only allowing 20.

Tyler Mojsiejenko was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Brant Rago was named the Defensive MVP.

The Diamond Jaxx also took first place in both the fastest base running relay and around the horn competition during the skills competition.

The Jaxx (48-1) will be headed to the Wisconsin Dells in two weeks to wrap up their season.
