The Third Annual Eagle Lake Triathlon will be held Aug. 4.

The triathlon is sponsored by Eagle Lake Marine, UniTech and Spin Zone. It will benefit Life Treatment Centers.

The triathlon will start and finish at Eagle Lake Marine, located at 68777 Avenue A in Edwardsburg. The event begins at 8 a.m. and will consist of two triathlon course options.

The Sprint course is the longer of the two and involves an 800-yard swim, a 17.1 mile bike ride and a 5.1 mile run.

The second course option is the Super Sprint and is great for beginner triathletes and entails a 200-yard swim, a 6.9 mile bike ride and a 1.4 mile run. To encourage participation, there are also relay options for both courses.

The Eagle Lake Triathlon will be composed of a clear lake swim with mostly flat bike course and a flat, fast run around the lake. There will be chip timing for the athletes and separate transition areas for Sprint and Super Sprint courses.

Each athlete will receive a tech shirt and is invited to the post race barbeque. Medals will also be distributed in an awards ceremony in each age group.

“We are thrilled that the residents of Eagle Lake have embraced this event to raise money for Life Treatment Centers,” said Paula Turk, race director. “This lake community is a slice of heaven with warm, friendly people. What else could be a better way to spend a beautiful summer morning, and then to have fun and help others.”
