When and why did you come to Dowagiac? 1971 to start a sales manager job at the Dowagiac Daily News

To what clubs do you belong? Dowagiac Elks Lodge 889

Education: Allegan High School, Ferris State University

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing? Building houses. My dad was a contractor.

If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Give it away

What don’t most people know about you? I am a frustrated artist with no time to draw.

Favorite food? Sue’s lasagna

Last book you read? “The River of Doubt” about Teddy Roosevelt

Favorite TV show? If my wife’s home, my favorite show is “Dancing with the Stars.” If she’s not home, it’s the Golf Channel.

Where would you go on your dream vacation? Anywhere with my family

Pet peeve? Selfish people

What’s the best advice you ever got and who gave it to you? “Tell your family you love them every day” — my father; “Keep your head down” — Joe Silvia

What would you want on your tombstone? My father’s tombstone reads, “Gone fishing, I love you.” Mine will read, “Gone fishing with Dad, I love you.”
