Niles District Library: Free kid movies offered

The Youth Services Department will be continuing weekly children’s and teen’s movies.  Children’s movies are shown at 3:30 p.m. Thursdays in the story room, and teens can see movies at 5 p.m. Thursdays in the community room. This week’s movies are “Open Season for children and “Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” for teens.

Youth activities

• 5 p.m. July 6:  The Dead Man’s Party teen event will be held in the rotunda.  Learn how to survive the Zombie Apocalypse, make dismembered gummy bears, pins and glow-in-the-dark jars. Participate in zombie games and a poetry slam. Registration required at the children’s department or by calling (269) 683-8545 ext. 106 or by emailing Rhonda at youthservices@nileslibrary.net.

• 3 p.m. July 10: Stars & Moons program is for children ages 8 to 12. Registration is required.

Adult activities

• July 18: Kindlegarten begins. This class teaches the basics of eReaders, including Nooks and Kindles.  Learn how to read and organize e-books on your tablet, smartphone or computer.Call (296) 683.8545 ext. 112.

Beginning July 1, the library will offer a three-month amnesty program, “Start Over.” The program aims to bring more people to the library by eliminating fees, which may be preventing people from using the library.
