New Mexico man dies in crash

A Three Rivers man’s passenger from New Mexico died in a Marcellus Township crash Saturday.
Passenger Robert Haney, 47, of New Mexico, was killed in the accident.
Deputies responded to the fatal accident at 6:50 a.m. Saturday on Burlington Road, south of Marcellus Highway.
Deputies reported the Chevy Impala, driven by John Eastes, 48, of Three Rivers, lost control, left the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest in a swamp.
Eastes was severely injured and flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital by AirCare.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. said it was unknown if alcohol was a factor.
The sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by Marcellus Area Fire and Ambulance, Newberg Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation.
