The Edwardsburg softball team advanced to the Division 2 District semifinals Saturday with a 9-5 win over visiting Three Rivers Tuesday.

Eddies’ catcher Tanner Kiessel went 2-for-4 to help Edwardsburg to advance. She singled in the second and fourth innings.

Even though Jill Blough allowed five runs over seven innings, she still recorded the victory. She struck out three, walked one and surrendered 10 hits.

In the top of the first, Three Rivers grabbed the early lead, 3-0.

The game was never in doubt after the second, as the Eddies scored five runs on a sacrifice fly by Maddi Holmes and three singles.

Edwardsburg added two more runs in the bottom of the third. A passed ball scored MacKenzie Creed for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by an error that scored Rachel Borden.

After pushing across one run in the top of the fourth, Three Rivers faced just a 7-4 deficit. A wild pitch triggered Three Rivers’ comeback.

Edwardsburg quickly matched Three Rivers’ strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the fourth. The Eddies scored on a sacrifice fly by Brittany Hurst.

After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, Three Rivers faced just a 8-5 deficit.

Edwardsburg answered Three Rivers’ top inning with one run of its own in the fifth. The Eddies scored on an RBI single by Nicole Brooks.

Brooks and Andrea LaPlace both had two hits and Teryn Williams drove in two runs
