Vikings on the road for opener

Host Mattawan is the favorite to win the Division 2 tournament this week.

Niles will hit the road Tuesday to take on Vicksburg, with the winner advancing to Thursday’s semifinals against St. Joseph.

That match will be played at 6 p.m.

The Bears have defeated both the Vikings and the Bulldogs.

In the other half of the bracket, Lakeshore will take on Edwardsburg, with the winner moving on to face the host Wildcats.

Both semifinals will be played at Mattawan, beginning at 5 p.m. The second semifinals will begin at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The championship match is set for Saturday at 2 p.m.

Division 4

Brandywine will play host to the Division 4 tournament and will open up play Thursday after receiving a first round bye.

The Bobcats will take on the winner of the Bridgman-River Valley match at 5 p.m.

Cassopolis will host Tuesday’s first round match against Michigan Lutheran. The winner of the Rangers (13-5-2) and Titans (8-3-1) match will face either New Buffalo or Lake Michigan Catholic (15-2-2), the three-time defending district champions.

The finals are scheduled for Saturday, although no time has been announced.

Division 3

Paw Paw is the host of the Division 3 District Soccer Tournament, but Dowagiac will open play at home Tuesday against Wolverine Conference foe Comstock.

The Chieftains (9-6-1) and Colts will play at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to face Parchment or Berrien Springs.

The host Redskins (14-2-1) open with future Wolverine Conference foe Coloma Tuesday. The winner advances to take on either Buchanan or Three Rivers in the semifinals.

Both semifinals will be played at Paw Paw High School Thursday. The first semifinal will be at 5 p.m. and the second at approximately 7 p.m. The finals are slated for 5 p.m. Saturday.
