Errors too much for Chieftains

PAW PAW — Committing 11 errors is not the way you want to wrap up the league season, but that’s exactly what Dowagiac did against host Paw Paw in Wolverine Conference softball Tuesday.

The Chieftains were swept by the Redskins 5-1 and 16-1. The second game, which Dowagiac had more errors (9) than Paw Paw had hits (8) ended after four innings.

“We continue to make routine mistakes which has become more mental than physical at this point,” Dowagiac coach Mike Behnke said. “Eleven errors in a doubleheader is not OK. All we can do now is try and put it together in our regular season finale against Berrien Springs tomorrow (Wednesday).”

Dowagiac finished with two hits in both games.

Amanda Craft and Jessica Herthoge had singles in the opening game, while Sierra Herter and Rachel Bailey picked up the hits in the nightcap.

Dowagiac will host Berrien Springs at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
