OTSEGO — The Dowagiac soccer team led 2-1 with eight minutes remaining, but was unable to hold on to its lead against Otsego Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs were able to knot the score at 2-2 and send the game into overtime.

Otsego scores a pair of goals in the first overtime to earn the 4-2 Wolverine Conference victory.

“We were leading 2-1 with eight minutes left in the game and again gave the team room and sat back,” a frustrated Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “Otsego wanted it a lot more than we did as a team. Tonight it came down to effort and not ability. We need to turn that around before districts.”

Dowagiac led 2-1 at halftime on goals by Breanna Williams (19th minute) and Kelsie Primley (37th minute). Lauren Krueger assisted on Williams’ 25th goal of the season.

Mikayla Capp had two goals and two assists for the Bulldogs, who also got a goal and an assist from Sarah Britain. Missy Gale had the other goal for Otsego.
