STEVENSVILLE — Visiting Niles was swept by two-time defending state champion Lakeshore Tuesday afternoon.

The Vikings lost to the Lancers 10-1 and 12-2. Molly VanDerKeere took the loss in both contests.

For Niles, Tala Gentry had a home run, while Olivia Jordan had three hits and stole two bases.

The Vikings also got a pair of RBIs from Sarah Cramer.

“We had the adversity bug hit us again, which moved our line-up around again,” Niles coach Ryan Frontczak said. “These kind of situations are only going make our girls stronger.

“We fought back in both games and never gave up. We still need to work on the little things on defense and our girls know it and are going to put in the work to get us where we need to be. We’ve had to deal with the hardest part of our schedule early on. It seems every team we have faced has been ranked. I told the girls if we learn from this it will make us stronger.”
