Chieftains split with Wildcats

THREE RIVERS — Visiting Dowagiac split a pair of Wolverine Conference baseball games with Three Rivers Tuesday.

The Chieftains dropped the first game 14-4 in six innings, but rebounded to win the nightcap 6-4.

Cal Cox struck out 11 and walked just two, while scattering six hits to earn the victory in the second game.

Dowagiac had six hits in the contest, all singles. Brett Scanlon, Dean Klann and Austin Broda all drove in runs.

In the opener, Cox was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Scanlon doubled and drove in two runs. Klann, who took the loss, also drove in a run.
