Blue Devils knock Niles out of tourney

RICHLAND — Maureen Craig wrapped up her brilliant career Monday night with 14 points as visiting Niles was outscored from the Class A District Tournament by Gull Lake 59-37.

The senior standout was 4-of-11 from 3-point range and 5-13 overall in a losing effort for the Vikings, who complete the 2011-12 season with a 6-14 record.

The Blue Devils (17-4) held just a 10-6 first quarter advantage over Niles, but stretched it out to 27-15 by halftime and 44-22 after three quarters.

Kelsey Adamski led a balanced Gull Lake attack with 13 points. Hadlee Hoeksema and Morgan Nusbaum added 12 and 10 respectively.

Besides Craig, Niles got 11 points from senior Michelle Briand and six points each from senior Taylor Brandstatter and sophomore Alexis Arnold.
