Students to compete at state conference

Niles students will compete in the regional competition at the State Leadership Conference in Grand Rapids March 22-25.

Business Professionals of America is a dynamic youth organization that provides leadership and business opportunities for high school students to prepare them in their selection as they make decisions on their future careers.

The skills that students learn through participating in a variety of business experiences are beneficial and will help prepare them for a career in the workforce.

The State Leadership Conference is March 22-25 at the Amway Grand in Grand Rapids.

At this conference, students are participating in business related events and competing for the top spots.
Some students who place are eligible to go to national competition taking place in April this year in Chicago.

The following Niles students have placed high enough at regional, held this year on Jan. 10 at Lake Michigan College, Benton Harbor, to attend the state conference/competition:

First place in Economic Research Project – Individual:  Madison Martin

First place in Legal Office Procedures – Emma Doud

Second place in Extemporaneous Speech – Stuart Coulstan

Second place in Financial Analysis Team – Taylor Purucker, Tyler Parish, Brian Moody and Stuart Coulstan

Second place in Business Spelling – Erica Haimbaugh

Third place in Administrative Support Concepts – Erica Haimbaugh

Third place in Legal Office Procedures – Sarah Lighthart

Third place in Payroll Accounting – Taylor Purucker

Fourth place in Extemporaneous Speech – Erica Haimbaugh

Fifth place in Extemporaneous Speech – Kamber Hadley

Fifth place in Entrepreneurship – Carrie Easton

Sixth place in Fundamental Accounting – Katelyn Gaither
