Dowagiac can’t hold lead in loss to Bulldogs

VICKSBURG — Host Vicksburg had to rally Monday night to edge Dowagiac 40-37 in Wolverine Conference girls basketball.

The Bulldogs led 11-9 after one quarter of play, but trailed the Chieftains 23-15 at halftime after Dowagiac outscored them 14-4 in the second quarter.

The Chieftains continued to lead after three quarters, 31-27, but were unable to maintain their advantage.

Vicksburg scored points in the final eight minutes, while hold Dowagiac to just six.

Correshia Rodgers had a game-high 16 points for the Chieftains, who also got 11 points from Kelsie Primley.

Erika Fojtik had 15 points for Vicksburg.
