Ex-Niles cop Ivery Cross, who is serving a prison sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct and misconduct in office, is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in hopes of withdrawing his earlier plea and going to trial.

Cross is accused of sexually assaulting an inmate at the Niles Law Enforcement Complex last March.

Cross is being represented by Kalamazoo attorney Anastase Markou, who will be arguing Cross received ineffective representation from his former attorney Andrew Burch.
