Wrestlers head to Comstock

The Dowagiac wrestling team will compete in the Horseshoe Classic Thursday at Comstock High School.

Also competing will be Blissfield, Buchanan, Cedar Springs, Comstock, Covert, Forest Hills Central, Gobles, Grass Lake, Kalamazoo Central, Lake Fenton, Lawrence, Marshall, Michigan Center, Orchard View, Parchment, Petosky, Plainwell, South Haven and Wayland.

This will be an individual format tournament with a 16-man bracket. Wrestling is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Admission is $5 for the entire day.

Benton Harbor Holiday Tournament

The Dowagiac boys’ basketball team will participate in the annual Benton Harbor Holiday Tournament this year.

The Chieftains (3-0) will join the host Tigers (2-3), Bridgman (2-3) and Detroit Preparatory in the annual event.

The tournament will be held Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. each night.

Dowagiac will face Detroit Prep in the opening game of the tournament at 6 p.m. Dec. 27. Benton Harbor and Bridgman will play in the nightcap, scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

The consolation game of the tournament will be held Dec. 28 at 6 p.m. The title game will follow at approximately 8 p.m.

Dowagiac will also play in the JV portion of the tournament.

The Chieftains will take on Benton Harbor’s “B” team at 2 p.m. Dec. 27, while Benton Harbor and Bridgman will play the other game at 4 p.m.

The consolation game is Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. and the championship game at 4 p.m.

Admission is $7 per person.

Brandywine Holiday Tournament

The undefeated Brandywine girls basketball team will host a four-team tournament beginning Tuesday.

Niles (2-4) will face undefeated New Buffalo (5-0) in the opening game at 6 p.m.
The Bobcats (6-0) will do battle with Hartford (2-3) in the second game at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The consolation game will be played Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the finals slated for 7:30 p.m.

Admission is $5.

The JV portion of the tournament will be played at Brandywine Elementary.

Brandywine and Hartford will play at 6 p.m., While Niles and New Buffalo will square off at approximately 7:30 p.m.
