Two area school districts were among 60 Michigan school districts that were named winners in Bridge Magazine’s first Academic State Championships.
Niles Community Schools finished first in Division 2 in eighth grade math, eighth grade science and eighth grade reading.
Edwardsburg Public Schools finished first in Division 4 in eighth grade math and fourth grade math.
Bridge Magazine selected 213 school districts to compete in the academic state championships.
Districts and winners were selected based on state statistics, such as MEAP and ACT scores that were collected and compiled in a database by Public Sector Consultants, a Lansing-based research firm.
Districts were grouped into eight divisions based on community type and socioeconomic status.
The winners were announced last week on the online magazine’s website.
