John and Catharine Weimer

John and Catharine “Kay” (McDonald) Weimer are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 23. The two were joined in

marriage on Sept. 23, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Niles.
They are the parents of Sheila (Brien) Jenkins of St. Joseph, Karen Weimer of Niles and Maureen (Mark) Hogue of Niles. They also have two granddaughters, Kristin Hogue and Shannon Jenkins, and one grandson, Dustin Jenkins.
John served in the Army during the Korean War, retired from Kawneer after 25 years, then National Standard after 12 years.
Kay retired from Southwestern Michigan College a few years ago after 25 years of service.
The family will have a celebration with family and friends at an open house/reception Sept. 25.
