In honor of our heroes

First United Methodist Church will recognize Patriots Day with a special worship service Sunday.

Though 10 years later, the memory of the tragic events that took place that September morning are still vivid.

Equally vivid for many are personal, family and community tragedies that have occurred with too much frequency since then.

Into our life’s tragedies step men and women who unselfishly give of themselves so that we can live in safety.

Sadly, those men and women and the service they give are often taken for granted until they are needed.

First United Methodist Church wants them to know that we appreciate each one and the sacrifices they make on our behalf.

Our local police and county sheriffs departments, area fire departments, area ambulance services and CERT have been invited to worship on this special day so that we might give thanks to God and honor these men and women for their selfless service to our community.

We invite our community to join us for this Patriots Day observance and let our heroes know how much we appreciate them on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 9:30.

First United Methodist Church is located at 326 N. Lowe in Dowagiac.
