The Cass County 4-H Leaders Association is now taking orders for its annual The Skillet dinner fundraiser. Tickets are on sale through Sept. 28.
Meal pick-up will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Gregarek Building at the Cass County fairgrounds, 590 North O’Keefe St., Cassopolis.
The meal, designed for a family of four, contains eight pieces of broasted chicken; one pint of mashed potatoes; a half-pint of gravy; one pint of seasoned green beans; one pint kluski noodles; four fluffy biscuits with homemade honey butter; and an 8-inch pan of brownies.
The Skillet restaurant of South Bend has won many awards for its renowned broasted chicken and will be catering the meal.
Tickets for the meal are $20 and must be purchased in advance from any 4-Her or the MSU Extension office in Cassopolis.
The Leaders Association helps support funding for 4-H initiatives in Cass County. The 4-H programs provide development opportunities for participating youth. Studies show that Michigan 4-H participants are less likely to smoke, drink or use drugs. They are also more likely to have higher levels of academic competence, attend college programs and are more physically active than non-4-H participants.
