Auditions for SMC comedy Sept. 13

Published 11:49pm Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Auditions for “Charley’s Aunt,” the fall production of the theater department at Southwestern Michigan College, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Auditions, which will take place in the Dale A. Lyons Building on SMC’s Dowagiac campus, will be a “cold read” and those attending do not need to prepare anything, according to Thomas Cooper, director of theater arts at SMC.
The play, which will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27-29 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 30, is a comedic masterpiece of love, mistaken identity and men in skirts. Two gents invite their girlfriends to Oxford, properly chaperoned, of course. The chaperone is delayed and what follows becomes a series of mishaps that spiral out of control.
