Lakeland HealthCare recently welcomed two new general surgeons to its medical staff.
Brian A. Bucina, DO, is currently seeing patients at Lakeland General Surgery, Niles, located at 60 North St. Joseph Avenue, Suite E, Niles.
He graduated summa cum laude from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz. and received his medical degree from the Arizona School of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Ariz. Bucina recently completed his general surgery residency at Garden City Hospital in Michigan, where he served as chief resident.
“I was initially interested in sports medicine when I began medical school because I used to play a lot of sports, like soccer,” Bucina said. “As soon I was exposed to anatomy and physiology, I gravitated toward surgery as my specialty and being in the operating room.”
Bucina is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association.
Craig M. Kline, MD, is now seeing patients at Surgical Specialties of Southwestern Medical Clinic, St. Joseph (a Lakeland HealthCare Affiliate), located at 3950 Hollywood Rd., Suite 100.
He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, and he received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
“I decided to specialize in surgery after serving on a mission trip with my friend’s father, who was a missionary surgeon,” Kline said. “I traveled with him to Ecuador to assist him with surgeries. I’ve been involved in the medical field for a long time, but it was my experience with this man that introduced me to the surgical field. My surgical rotations at Detroit Medical Center confirmed my interest in choosing surgery as my specialty.”
Kline completed his general surgery residency at Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University, where he served as chief administrative resident.
