Nominated for Detroit Music Awards “Best Country Band” and “Best Country Recording,” Wildfire returns to downtown Dowagiac Friday, July 29, for Summer in the City, where it rocked Beckwith Park last July with some of the best country jams the Midwest has to offer.

The three-day summertime bash, which also features Sizzlin’ Hot Sidewalk Days, will be staged in the central business district Thursday through Saturday, July 28-30.

Presented by the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce, Summer in the City opens Thursday morning as it presents 47 hours of vocal and instrumental entertainment and dance, an array of family events and the acclaimed Steve’s Run of Southwestern Michigan College.

From boot scootin’ Cowboy Rock to R&B and funky Blues, this festival has it all.

Now in its 26th year, the three-day gala was underwritten by 26 corporate and activity sponsors, and a $10,000 fine arts grant, which was awarded to the Dowagiac Downtown Development Authority from St. Denys Foundation of Dowagiac.

Corporate festival sponsors include Dr. Charles Burling & Dr. Jon Gillesby, Creative Vinyl Signs, Edward Jones and its Office of Kim MacGregor, Family Fare, Frontier Communications, LADD, Leader Publications, Lyons Industries, Dr. Alan Montgomery and Southwestern Michigan College.
