Hundreds of bikers turned out for the 10th Niles Burn Run Saturday and Sunday.

The weather couldn’t have been better for the 10th Niles Burn Run Saturday and Sunday.

The 55-mile run left downtown Niles Sunday and traveled around the area. The Burn Run is a fundraiser for the Great Lakes Burn Camp, a retreat for burn victims.

Organizer Doug Myers, a Niles Township firefighter who founded the event in 2001, said last week that he was anticipating a record turnout for the fundraiser, an annual charitable motorcycle ride that benefits the Great Lakes Burn Camp near Kalamazoo.
In 2010, the Niles Burn Run drew in just under 500 bikes, 3,000 attendees and went from a one-day ride to a two-day event as riders and supporters took over downtown Niles. It raised $12,000 that year.
The weekend included live music, a fire truck pull, a bike show and contest, a poker walk and slow putt competition.
The run itself, which covers 55 miles, began at noon Sunday.
